The Miller Family

For new years every other year my parents throw an amazing party for our family! This year was no exception. We were asked to come dressed as knights and princesses. They started out the party by introducing each family and then taking us up through the draw bridge to get pictures.

Then we entered the royal banquet hall. Where we had a renaissance feast.My parents looked great in all their royal gear!Then we were all told to bring a family crest. We took a few minutes to explain our crests.Then all the grandkids were given a glow in the dark sword or wand. Then my parents led them through a dark tunnel into the garage which had been decorated like a dragons lair.Complete with fire breathing, eye glowing dragon.In the dragons lair the kids got swords and the knights had to protect the princesses from the evil knights (their grandpa and uncles.) Then the princesses got a turn protecting the knights. They all loved this!Then the kids got to hop on their horse dads backs and joust each other. They had to try to get the ball off each others hats. This was so fun.

Then the kids got to storm the castle and break open the castle pinata. After that we put some kids down to sleep and had the other ones watch a movie, while the moms and dads were sent to Smiths, in all our costume glory, on a dessert treasure hunt. And yes, we did get quite a few looks.Then when we got back the dads had been told to bring a plastic spoon catapult. Then we had a contests trying to hit the opposite teams balloons with marshmellows flung from your catapult. It was fun to watch the kids trying to steal all the marshamellows!Then we played human chess and learned a new royal dance.The kids loved sticking their heads in here.Kambree fell asleep, but woke up about eleven o'clock. So she was awake for the new year.

But Michael fell asleep at about eleven thirty, when the dancing started. Then it was time to ring in the new year. The boys all rigged up a bunch of firecrackers which were let off at midnight.

It was such a fun party and we are so lucky our parents are willing to put so many hours into planning, decorating and throwing such awesome parties! We already can't wait until the next one!
