Dance Class

Kambree could hardly wait for her dance class to start. She loves dance. Unfortunately I got a crazy face picture...we'll have to retake that one!!
They class is usually closed for observation, but they let us watch her first class for the first ten minutes and the last ten minutes. And she was in heaven. Love how much she loves it.

She had fun and is so excited every week for dance class.

Best Buddies

These two have loved playing with each other every morning while the big boys are gone. They are so fun together. However it usually involves making a mess of some kind. This day it was a fun fort in the family room. Got to love a blanket fort.

Kambrees first day without Blake

What's a first day of school without coming home to a yummy after school snack. Kambree and I whipped up some cupcakes for the boys while they were in school. She LOVED getting to decorate them all.
And getting to eat the first one was a bonus too. She misses Blake in the afternoons when he is at school. Those two are best buddies while the big boys are gone. Now everyday when he goes to school she says "Where are we going?' She doesn't want to go home...too boring with just mom. She wants to go play or go shopping, anything but going home. So when I say we are going home she yells to me "No, where are we going!!" Love it and will cry my eyes out when that girl abandons me for kindergarten!!

Blakes first day of Kindergarten!!

This was so stinkin' sad!! I still think of Blake like he is two. So him going to school is just unreal to me.  But he was ready and so excited!

I found a better angle for his school name picture :)

Everyday when they come to school they line up outside the door and wait for their teacher to come get them and take them into the class. This school is very strict about who comes in. All the doors are locked. If you need to get in you have to ring the doorbell and then the secretary who is looking at you on camera asks why you are coming and then will let you into the office to sign in. Serious stuff.
There is my buddy at the back of the line.

Checking out his new desk. With the "enough already" face. I can't help it I want pictures to remember it all!! He had a great first day and came home so happy about his new teacher Mrs. Stegeman, recess and his favorite part was that they get chocolate milk EVERY DAY!!!

The big boys go to school

These boys were so excited to head to school this year. But I always get a little sad when they have to go back. I really do miss having them at home. I can't believe Carson is already in the fourth grade!! He got Mrs. Chapman.

Take a look at this second grader!! Isn't he handsome. So excited for his first day of school in Mrs. Williams class.
Had to get a picture with the school name. First day at their new school.

Everything went good on their first day. We walked them to school and then walked back to pick them up.  They both love their teachers and are making friends fast. We've already learned that things are much different here in Kansas. School is a whole hour longer every day and we don't get out of school early on Fridays. That makes an extra seven hours of school each week!!! Are they crazy? The first week of school I got a call from the principle letting me know that Michael is not allowed to ride his bike to school. You have to be in third grade. So that put an end to bike riding for my boys. That was too bad. Now they have to walk, which takes much longer. Bummer. But overall it's been a good experience and they are getting into their new routines fast.

Back to school night

The boys were so excited about back to school night this year. They were so anxious to get to school and start making new friends.
From what we hear they were given the best teachers in the school...so we are excited and hopeful for a great school year!

Summer fort

Summer vacation was coming to an end and the kids were feeling like they needed something fun to do for the final days. Shan suggested they build a fort. So....while he was a work the boys went over to the house that is being built down the road from us and asked the workers if they could have any left over wood. The workers directed my boys to the pile of "trash" wood. They spent the day dragging over the pieces of wood they liked. They even found a "roof" and a frame for the window.
When Shan got home he helped them build a simple frame and then the boys took it from there. They pounded all the nails and all the boards to make the walls.
Since this  picture they have added a ton. A ladder to the roof and a no girls allowed sign.
 The onlookers.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my boys be creative in this way. I love when they can find fun stuff like this to do. Usually they have done this when we go into the mountains camping. But since that isn't really an option for us anymore I am glad they found another way.

Roller Skating

We finally dug out the kids roller skates. They had fun rolling around in the backyard. Some braved the cement, but a few kept to the grass.

Last day of Swimming

This was our last day of swimming before school started. We swam SO much this summer. At least four or five times a week. With the pool just a block away it is easy to take an hour to hop in the pool. We swam with Sammy, Riley and Bailey quite a bit and had so much fun. Once Kurtis's family even came to pool and we had dinner and all swam. It was great. I however was terrible at taking pictures! It makes me sad because we had so much fun at the pool.

Science City

When we went to the Children's museum in Omaha I bought a year pass that get's you into tons of museums free. One of those museums is Science city in Kansas City. We have now been twice and I am sure we will go again before our pass expires. It's a cool museum in the train station downtown Kansas city. The kids LOVE it!!
Everything there teaches you about a little science concept. But mostly the kids just think they are fun.

They could play at this water table all day!!

Who doesn't love pretending to fly the helicopter.
Part way through the museum we decided to ride the elevator to the next floor. It was a clear elevator and the kids were so excited to get to ride it. Well.....we got on and the elevator broke. We were totally stuck in the elevator. It was a good thing it was clear because we waved down some people who were able to go get help for us.
I had to get pictures....this is about five minutes after we got on the elevator. I told the kids to act scared. At least Kambree and Carson are pretending for me.
Going on fifteen minutes....not so much fun anymore. "Mom we are going to starve to death!!" Half an hour in the kids weren't pretending to be scared anymore. The maintenance guy was standing outside the door saying we would have to wait for the elevator company and it could be a few hours!! Luckily for us though he was able to get it open after just 35 minutes!!

It was a fun museum and a good day away from the house!

Carson starts tackle football

Carson has started tackle football. This picture was right after he got his gear. He was so excited!

Back to the drive-in movies!

We went to the drive in quite a few times this summer. After our first success we found a new and better one! Shan was driving out of town about 40 minutes to check his deer camera's on the weekends. So we would come along and all go to the drive-in that was just a few minutes away. It was great! The funniest old man would come on the loud speaker to announce crazy stuff during the movie. Cracked us up every time. And it is out of the city so we could see the stars so good! It was never really crowded and had a fun playground for the kids before the movie started. As you can tell we loved it.

We even convinced Kurtis and Jenny to come with us one time. I think they liked it, but there kids may be a little young to fully enjoy the experience.

Definitely a favorite of the Miller family!
