Summer vacation was coming to an end and the kids were feeling like they needed something fun to do for the final days. Shan suggested they build a fort. So....while he was a work the boys went over to the house that is being built down the road from us and asked the workers if they could have any left over wood. The workers directed my boys to the pile of "trash" wood. They spent the day dragging over the pieces of wood they liked. They even found a "roof" and a frame for the window.
When Shan got home he helped them build a simple frame and then the boys took it from there. They pounded all the nails and all the boards to make the walls.
Since this picture they have added a ton. A ladder to the roof and a no girls allowed sign.
The onlookers.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my boys be creative in this way. I love when they can find fun stuff like this to do. Usually they have done this when we go into the mountains camping. But since that isn't really an option for us anymore I am glad they found another way.

K, that is cool!!
Shan is a good father. I remember as a boy that there was absolutely nothing cooler than a fort. But, my forts - and there were many - would have even been cooler if I had memories of my father having helped me build them. I am proud of Shan, and love your boys!!!
I love it! That is so cute!
